Namco Bandai announces strong GamesCom line-up

Submitted by on Thursday, 12 August 2010No Comment

Planning to be at GamesCom next week in Cologne? If so, you’ll be able to go hands-on with Namco Bandai’s solid collection of upcoming titles. Amongst the top PS3 games available to play will be Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom.

Enslaved is one to watch out for. Criminally, it hasn’t received much publicity even though it’s due out in two months. It has stunning visuals, exciting platforming, and a post-apocalyptic setting which surprisingly doesn’t scream bland. We’ve not had many third-person adventures this year, so Enslaved will be gives us a welcome break from the avalanche of FPSs.

Enslaved is being developed by Ninja Theory, the team behind Heavenly Sword; a game that was a technical marvel to view but not so wonderful to play. Maybe that let-down is part of the reason for the muted reception Enslaved is getting, but rest assured this has tons of potential.

When Namco Bandai showed the first Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom trailer back in March, it reminded us a lot of Team ICO’s work, not a bad comparison, so we want to see how Majin’s beautiful fantasy world is shaping up. Namco Bandai are promising us an “absorbing storyline” with “rich character interactions” and “constantly evolving gameplay.” Team ICO’s The Last Guardian is still a long way off, so we’re hoping that Majin will plug the gap.
