US PlayStation Plus members to get 25% off Protection Plan

Submitted by on Wednesday, 25 August 2010No Comment

In another move designed to give greater incentive for PSN users to subscribe to PlayStation Plus, SCEA has announced a brand new addition to the service.

US PlayStation Plus subscribers can now purchase a two year protection plan, which extends the PS3 warranty from one year to three, for a discounted price of $44.99, that’s 25% off.

A $15 discount is quite significant and makes the cost of subscribing to Sony’s premium PSN service a lot cheaper if you already plan on purchasing the protection scheme.

Of course though, you have to purchase the Protection Plan while your PS3 is still within its one year warranty, so therefore it will mainly only apply to owners of the slimmer PS3 model.

So does this make you even more enthusiastic for PS Plus? Please leave a comment.

And on a side note, we hope Sony will finally bring back the warranty extension scheme to Europe!
