VidZone is getting faster and EMI content [update]

EMI boast a collection of over 8,000 music videos so this is a big coup. With a diverse range of artists from David Bowie and Iron Maiden to  Kylie Minogue and Katy Perry, everyone should find something to their liking.

The Sex Pistols famously sang about the label in “EMI” on their Never Mind the Bollocks album. The band, who signed with EMI in 1976, had a uneasy relationship with the label.

Content has never been a big issue for VidZone, however, the speed of the programme has. This is something they’ve been working on and version 1.15 should see big improvements in this area. The update will include:

Speedy updates: The VidZone application will start-up exceptionally faster and content refreshes will be processed and downloaded quicker.

Optimised search: Search is now better than ever before. You can find more of what you want, without ‘that scrolling letters search’, as virtual keyboard becomes default.

Advanced settings: Our videos are multibitrate with hi, med and lo quality settings. You can now control your bandwidth use by fixing these settings (Aussie, Kiwi & Italiano fans – this is for you!)

Overall experience: We have fixed a few minor bugs which will make a big difference to your music experience. Let us know if you can spot them!

The update will go live today and EMI content will start streaming from tomorrow. These lovely updates will be coming to all 18 countries including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France (with Monaco), Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain (with Gibraltar), Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.

Not a bad update, eh?

The update is live, and for those with automatic downloads turned on it should be pushed to your system already. My copy was reporting a corrupted database, forcing me to delete and re-install. Let us know if anyone else is having problems.
