Excited about the upcoming DLC for Borderlands? You should be. Don’t worry though, even without Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution everyone is getting something thanks to a free update.

Coming soon to Borderlands is a free version update that will increase the level cap by 8. Players with the General Knoxx expansion will now be able to reach level 69, while players without it can progress to level 58. The reason for that is because the General Knoxx DLC raises the level cap by 11. The patch also rebalances the enemies in the game by adjusting their levels.

Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution releases on September 28th for $9.99.  On October 12th a GOTY edition of Borderlands will be released for $59.99 and it includes all four add-ons. There is no confirmed date for the free patch as of yet but it is expected to launch in time for the GOTY edition.
