Disgaea 4 coming to the US next summer
Earlier we brought you the first footage of Disgaea 4, now we’ve got some more titbits to bring you. Don’t plan on booking any holidays next summer because you’re already booked in to play Disgaea 4.
Nippon Ichi Software say the game will feature a whole new graphic engine, which is good news because the last iteration looked distinctly dated. The visuals are now a lot sharper and less pixelated, but don’t expect a drastic overhaul. NIS America have also confirmed that there will be a “much more emphasis on an anime style graphics.”
However, Disgaea’s appeal is not in its graphics – no matter how welcoming its visual style is – instead what we love about Disgaea is its combat; it’s deep, engrossing and obsessively tactical. It’s also where the game loses its mass appeal: it’s far too fiddly and complicated for most people. NIS America have also confirmed that Disgaea 4 will adopt many new game systems, although they fail to go into details at this stage. Still, if fiddly and complicated is what you want then you’ll be looking forward to this as much as we are.
So do you embrace Disgaea’s fiddliness?
