Yesterday various websites inlcuding IGN, Gamespot, and 1UP each posted the first gameplay videos for Mega Man Universe.

Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune gives us a brief introduction and then goes directly into the gameplay. Each shows off a different version of the Blue Bomber such as Rockman, Mega Man, and Bad Box Art Mega Man. In addition we are teased at the end with Ryu being a playable character although no gameplay footage of him is shown. Judging from the debut trailer, we imagine the same can be said for Arthur.

The gameplay is similar to that of the classic side-scrolling Mega Man games. Mega Man uses his mega buster to destroy enemies (we can also see Metal Man’s metal blades and Cut Man’s rolling cutters), avoids obstacles as he tries to make it to the robot master at the end of the level.

The graphics, on the other hand, remind us a lot of Mega Man Powered Up minus the cuteness factor. We aren’t completely sold on this yet as it isn’t anything different from what we’ve seen in past games. We’ll be interested to see how Ryu (and other characters?) will play like.
