PS3 Attitude’s Platinum Community Member of the Month

Submitted by on Wednesday, 1 September 201050 Comments

Platinum Community Member PS3 Attitudes Platinum Community Member of the MonthDid you know that you are the best thing about PS3 Attitude?  Yes, you reading this right now, we’re talking to you.  Make no mistake, we don’t take you for granted.  If it wasn’t for you coming here to read all the latest news and reviews, this site wouldn’t exist.  Today, we’re prepared to reward you for your time and attention.

We love what we’ve created here at PS3 Attitude and we have you to thank for that.  If we had only one more thing we could ask from you, our treasured readers, it would be to speak your mind more.

Like what we have to say?  Let us know in the comments.

Don’t like our views?  Then let us know your side of it.

We know it takes time and effort to articulate your thoughts on our many articles, so going forward we’ll be dangling a carrot in front of you, with hopes of providing some motivation.

We’re absolutely ecstatic to introduce PS3 Attitude’s Platinum Community Member of the Month contest.  We’ll talk about some of the incredible prizes you’ll have a chance to win in just a moment but first, let’s talk about how you can win.  It’s pretty simple, really.  All you have to do is talk about games.  That’s right, for simply leaving comments at the foot of any article you read, you’ll immediately have a chance to win.

This bundle could be yours!

Want a better chance to win?  Make your comments particularly noteworthy.  Give us the real low-down on what you think about the topic at hand.  We’re not asking you to write a novel at the bottom of every article but at the same time, don’t hold back.  Spamming comments with two or three words won’t work, either – we’re not awarding any prizes based on the sheer quantity of your comments. We will be rewarding quality as well in addition to the number of comments.  The more constructive your comments are, the better chance you have at standing out.

In addition, you’ll get to let us know of other people’s great comments using our new ‘thumbs up’ feature.

See another comment you agree with or enjoyed reading?  Help that person out by clicking the ‘thumbs up’ icon beside their comment.  The contest is going to be judged by the staff of PS3 Attitude but we’ll also be paying attention to who you think has a good point-of-view.

But enough of the technicalities, let’s talk about the prizes!

In our initial month of running this contest, we’re planning on giving out 3 different prizes.  Our grand prize is going to be a PlayStation Move starter kit.  Win this contest and we’ll have one shipped right to your doorstep as close to the launch date as possible.  Our second prize is going to be your choice of any PlayStation 3 Greatest Hits title and our third place winner will receive a PlayStation Move charging station.  Win any of these three prizes and we’ll send them straight to your residence as soon as we can.

One of the many great PS3 Greatest Hits titles you can choose from!

But that’s not all, as the grand prize winner you’ll also receive a small graphic that can be embedded in to your own personal website or blog that shows your accomplishment on PS3Attitude.com.  Not only that but we’ll also be writing up a monthly recap about our winners and some of their best comments.  We will even include a few ‘honorable mention’ comments so all readers can see and acknowledge your contributions to the site, even if you’re not a prize winner.

Going forward, this will be a monthly contest with new chances to win and new prizes to claim every month.  Just before the end of each month, we’ll let you know what the prizes are for the next contest, and just after the end of each month, we’ll be contacting the winners and publishing an appropriate ‘winners’ article to put them on the pedestal they deserve.

Our first contest is for September, which means we’re starting right now!  So head down to the comments section and let us know what you think of this new contest.  If you’ve yet to register for the site, you can do so on the right side of the screen.  The registration process is simple and hassle-free.

We’d like to end this by thanking you once more for being such an integral part of the PS3 Attitude experience.   Who knows, not only might you end up winning some super cool stuff but you might even make some new friends in the process.  We look forward to reading your thoughts and comments and would like to thank you in advance for becoming more involved.  Without you, there would be no PS3 Attitude and this is just our little way of showing you how much you’re appreciated.

**PS3 Attitude reserves the right to end or alter this contest in any way at any time. Prizes are only available to those who use SCEA or SCEE maintained versions of the PlayStation Store, and we must be able to legally ship items to your country from the US or UK.

I have irish in me too. about 25%. the other 75 is mexican. its a weird combination, but lots of people think irish people are....exotic ;)

Love how loads of ppl have commented on this story.

Will it make me comment more? Probably.

I enjoy reading ppls comments almost as much as the story in some cases, just hope the comments section doesn't get covered in spam!

Don't worry, we have a strong policy against spam. And Vikings.

But....Kevin Butler was a viking in that tweet Ps3attitude retweeted...;)

Hold it, my surname has Viking roots. Can we at least discuss this 'No Vikings' policy? Is there any chance you'll reconsider? Does this mean I can't win a prize? Where am I supposed to go now?!

Norway, perhaps? btw, vikings (with the exception of the NFL team) are awesome.

Yes, it is originally Norwegian, although I'm English, and my relatives are mostly Irish. Then there are relations from generations back that migrated to America and Australia. I don't actually know of any Norwegion relatives, but if I traced back far enough, they'd be there somewhere!

What's with the Viking thing?

seanoc (or someone associated with this company) said they have a policy against vikings, and i pointed out that Kevin Butler was a viking in that PSMove advertisement.

@Echo

wow, i never knew our relationship was that special :')

Thanks everyone for the comments and support! Just remember, any comment you leave on any article gives you a chance - not just this article. :-)

i wanna win this so bad, i've left over 35 comments in 2 days :P dont worry, not spam ;)

What can I say. My PS3 broke a week ago, and I read PS3 Attitude everyday. I support the site.

So, I need a PS3! Help a brother out :P

Just added some links to my blog - hopefully this will help!

Lovin the new idea... Nice prizes 2... I have only registered recently but i have been a reader for a long time...And i love this place... Thank you ps3 attitude and god speed lol

This is a great idea.. Quality not quantity is also what I have been telling my for wife years so this gets a thumbs up from me!

The only thing that could stumble is the thumbs up/down - unless I have misunderstood we the community members will be voting on the other community members comments and this will increase thier chances of winning..

This will discourage us from voting - or will you also be recording who votes? I don't want to over analyse this just wondering if I understood.

Anyway I love how the chance of some freebies has brought everyone to comment on this!!

Good luck ladies and gents!

That's it, stick a fork in my ass and turn me over, I'm done!

Hang on, let me scroll to the top of the page,

'Talk games - win prizes' Nope, still rubbish,
I think mine's better - so fire me!

Don't you guy's have emails to read or something?
At least I have an excuse, I've got two screen here so can actually work while all this blather is going on!

Oh for God's sake girls post something somewhere else, this love-in has gone on long enough!

‘Ludus est Omnis’

ROFLOL! And today we have a flurry of comments on PS3A!
You "theturk" Get a thumbs up ;-)

What a strange coincidence...huh?

‘Ludus est Omnis’?

This isn't the 'company naming' episode of 'The Apprentice' Turk! :)

Great idea guys. ;) Now that I think about it, I'm surprised you didn't do it sooner!

I have to say, it would be brilliant to win. It sounds like you're giving the winner the VIP treatment, with a dedicated article each month. But like vicheous says, I'll stick to my current posting habits, so I won't be making posts on things that don't interest me or posting for the sake of trying to win a prize.

Even so, I'll understand if you like my comments enough to just give all the prizes to me. :) No pressure or anything guys!

I reckon the 'like' feature for comments is brilliant (and the lack of a dislike is also very sensible - keep it nice and friendly :)) - great stuff PS3A, still rockin' the PS3 gaming world :).

Yep, my initial thought was that there should be a dislike button, but actually it's much more refreshing for a gaming site to only have a like button. Also, I think only having the option of liking comments gives a more realistic idea of what the community actually thinks of someone's comment.

Wow seriously good prizes on offer, let's get posting!

Hopefully this comp will draw in the crowds PS3A deserves.

yeah, but not until the contest is over :P what, i dont want my chances of winning lowered!

That's a great idea!! Looking forward to see how this all turns out. And keep up the great work PS3A, I've got your dashboard widget, and I swear I check for new articles just about once every minute =P And I'm not just saying that to try and win, I seriously do! I just love this website and PS3's ^_^ It'd be awesome if I won - a Move bundle, I mean... WOW, that's really good!

Agreed. This is probably my favourite games website. The opinions are well rounded, and never critical for the sake of being so. I really enjoy reading the articles, and this is possibly the best community of any that I have been a part of.

Sorry if I made anyone baulk on that piece of cheese, but that's the truth. ;)

I think I should win because I encouraged N4PS.com to include PS3 Attitude and didn't stop moaning at them until they added you!

That is quite nice of you ^_^. I think I can speak for everyone here when I say that we appreciate the amazing support.

You definitely do. ;)

By the way, I like your mustached Sackgirl Chun-Li better. Let it grow back. :P

Jimsmells. Not cheap at all. Those prizes have some value ;-)

Glad to hear everyone likes the idea. I wish I was in with a chance of winning!

are you a staff member and disqualified? or no?

Yep. Us writers are disqualified as these prizes are for the community to win. Which is only fair.

that sucks. but it must be pretty cool to write for this website. i enjoy writing posts, and i dont even get paid :P

I'm pretty sure, unless something's changed, that none of the writers here get paid a dime for their work - they do it all to support charity and for a love of gaming, and they have mucho respect from me ;).

whoa, axe, seriously? i knew most went to charity, i didnt know it all did. then, how do you guys get these prizes?

The contest is currently funded by the staff of PS3 Attitude. Yep, we love you that much. :-)

Oh but the line 'talk games - win prizes' is a bit lame.
may be we could have a competition for the best line.

How about some latin crap like 'Ludus est Omnis' 'The Game is everything

Whilst I think this is sort of a cheap way of increasing popularity it is quite ingenious, especially the that it's quality not quantity that matters as this should create some good conversations and debates in the comments sections

Thumbs up feature, Well done girls,
will there be a league table where we can see how we and others are doing - with a phone number to the Samaritans for those so dejected at their marvellous missives being ignored by the illustrious readers of this esteemed website?

But seriously, it's a simple and elegant little feature, I like it!

I just made another donation to PS3A and if i dont win anything i'll be mad :-( And i comment A LOT! Just dont do it on games i dont care about ;-)

Cool with new new comment rating, but should there not be both thumbs up and down? not only up... Eitherway cool.

yes, there definitely should be a down. and i think theres a disclaimer in every contest saying "a purchase will not increase your chances of winning!!!" haha, good luck, though.

haha, jeez, i just saw the front page column naming the top members, and you are number one with 191 posts. i probably lost :(

We're taking the 'Facebook' route by just having a 'like' option and not an 'unlike' option. There's lots of reasons why, including reducing the likelihood that people will just go and mark down everyone else's comments to make theirs look better.

The key thing is that we'll be looking at quality as well as quantity, so make sure you bring your best thoughts to the table!

i guess so. too many people do spam, so i guess thats the sensible choice.

ive already posted in 3 articles since this one was put up :P i really want that Move bundle (and im probably the only one). if i won it, i would have an extra $100 to spend this holiday season (not on any one other than myself >:D). and about Move. i think its getting more hate than love. i really think it has the potential to beat the wii AND kinect.

Ooh, great idea. I probably won't win, but good luck to everybody. ^_^
