A Swarm of new screenshots and trailers
A Swarm of screenshots have been released for Hothead Games’ upcoming platformer/puzzler. We also have in-game footage with developer commentary, and a rather mean teaser trailer. We’re swimming in Swarm.
Swarm is a little bit like Lemmings: you navigate 50 “utterly fearless” Swarmites across a map, helping them avoid hazard after hazard. Not every Swarm will make it though; in fact, many will suffer brutal deaths.
This is where the comparisons with Lemmings end. It is different because it has you control the whole swarm instead of individual Swarmites. In this sense, Swarm plays like a traditional platformer, although a rather cumbersome looking one.
Finding that hard to grasp? Then watch the video below which has Hothead’s Joel DeYoung takes us through the gameplay…
There is also a lot of quality on the PlayStation Store; Swarm will be competing against excellent puzzlers such as Braid and PixelJunk Shooter for your attention. Not an easy task. Can Hothead’s “unique combination of mass character control and fast action” prove to be a winning mix? We’ll hold off judgement for now.
Swarm is expected to arrive on the PlayStation Store sometime in early 2011. In the meantime, check out the screenshots below…
