WRC FIA World Rally Championship UK Debut Trailer Released

Submitted by on Wednesday, 1 September 20103 Comments

Assuming that tongue twister of a title didn’t discourage you from reading further, we’ve got some information concerning the new WRC Racing game that’s coming out soon.  What kind of info?  How about a new trailer and some DLC news?

We haven’t talked about this title since revealing its release date two months ago but if you’re not familiar with the game, here are the facts:  WRC FIA World Rally Championship is being developed by Milestone and published by Black Bean.  It will be launching this October in the UK – although a release date for the US and other regions doesn’t seem to be finalized.  It will include fully licensed drivers, fully licensed cars and at least 78 different rally stages.

The DLC news we have is about a car pack that will available right from the game’s launch on October 8.  The pack will include classic WRC Group B vehicles from the 1980’s era of rally racing, when – according to Black Bean – Group B cars were a force to be reckoned with.

We don’t traditionally like to be pessimistic about a new game, especially when we haven’t played it yet, but the graphics for this offering seems to be just a tad sub-par.  When you consider the game’s two biggest competitors will no doubt be Gran Turismo 5 and DiRT 2/3, you have to wonder if the game’s visual style will play a part in consumer decision.

Who knows, maybe the game was still quite a ways from completion when this trailer was created, or maybe it will get a bit of an upgrade before launch.   If not, they may want to refrain from putting it side by side with real-time footage in any future trailers.

With that, we’ll turn it over to you.  Are you at all put off by the look of this trailer, or do the handling mechanics take such precedence over the visuals that it doesn’t matter?  We eagerly await your feedback.
