Killzone 3 beta announced; detailed

Submitted by on Friday, 8 October 201015 Comments

Killzone 3 eyes Killzone 3 beta announced; detailedFor those that have long been anticipating the possible announcement of a Killzone 3 beta, this is your lucky week.  While only a small amount of people will be able to get in, Guerrilla is making it open to anyone who puts themselves in the right place at the right time.

Before getting too excited about the possibility of getting an early look at Killzone 3 via the beta, you should know that there are some pretty tough stipulations and requirements to wade through.

First, you must live in either the U.S. or Europe.  Second, you must be a PlayStation Plus member.  Last, you’ve got to be very quick on the draw.  On October 19 a theme is going to appear in the PlayStation Plus section of the Store.  You have to be one of the first 5,000 people to download that theme in either the U.S. or Europe (5,000 players will be selected from each region).

Assuming you managed to dodge all those obstacles, you’ll be sent an e-mail containing all the details and instructions for the beta on October 25, which will also contain your beta code.  The code will be sent to the address that’s paired with your PSN account but only if you’ve elected to receive e-mails from SCE.  Simple, right?

The beta is actually pretty big and includes the brand-new Operations game type, the much requested party system, and jetpack and exoskeleton vehicles.  The beta will also include three different maps to play on.

It’s not all sunshine and giggles in this beta, however.  In their post on the US PlayStation Blog, Guerrilla made it very clear that you will be expected to report any bugs or glitches you come across and give your honest gameplay feedback.  Which tells us that this is not a simple server beta like so many that become available to the public.

Be sure to let us know if you’ll be trying to become a member of this beta.
