PS3 Attitude’s Platinum Community Member of the Month – September results
We know a lot of you out there have been patiently waiting to hear who won the first ever Platinum Community Member contest, and we’re pleased to be finally bringing you the results. So who are the big winners?
Before we say, we want to thank all of you for making this contest such a success. In the October prize article we wrote, we mentioned that the total number of comments and average number of comments per article had both gone up. What we didn’t mention was that the overall quality of the comments were simply outstanding. This was truly a very difficult decision for us to make. So here we go.
First place winner for September’s contest and recipient of a PlayStation Move Starter Kit is (drum roll please): thesam903. Sam isn’t even currently in our top 3 as far as overall comments go but everything he left seemed to stand out to us – even the shorter comments. He brought intelligence, insight and an open-mind to almost every comment he left. While this is only one of the many great things he had to say, here is an example of Sam’s contributions to the site. This is from the BioShock Infinite article that included 9.5 minutes of gameplay.
“Incredible, without a doubt the best gameplay trailer I have ever seen. So much more excited about this game now than I was previously. That bit where that guys eyes turn yellow and he shouts ‘Charles!’ actually sent a shiver down my spine lol.
It’s good to see the developers just coming straight out with a gameplay trailer too, instead of tantalising teaser trailers that frustrate you more than anything else. Just shows how confident they are about their gameplay, and with good reason too.”
Our second place winner and recipient of a PS3 Greatest Hits title is: argetlam350. Argetlam was another one of our favorites for September (obviously). His willingness to insert his own experiences in to his comments is what consistently made him stand out. Again, this is just one of the many great comments he left but it’s a prime example of what we’re talking about. This comment was left on the inFamous 2 PAX trailer article.
“I loved Infamous when I first got the demo and the game. I played it for hours messing around. I like how they made it open world so you could roam around as you pleased. The powers were awesome, my favorite being the sticky grenade and the lightning storm.
This one I like how you can levitate and chuck cars and the camera goes to some action camera when you are fighting. Can’t wait for the game to come out.”
Our third place winner and recipient of a PlayStation Move charging dock is: patsfan365. Patsfan starting commenting on the site right when we announced this contest so he’s a bit of a noob to our many PS3A conversations. None-the-less, he did exactly what we asked of him. He left quality comments and lots of them. The thing that stood out the most for patsfan was his ability to speak his mind, even if it didn’t mirror our enthusiasm in the article he was commenting on. It’s just a shame patsfan isn’t as good at checking his e-mail as he is at commenting, otherwise he would’ve known he was a winner 3 days ago. This quote was taken from part 4 of the Medal of Honor Experience.
“I honestly think Black Ops looks better, and I hated MW2. It’s just, I dont know, it looks TOO much like BC2 and it doesnt seem to bring anything new to the table. Some of the game modes in Black Ops, however, look extremely inventive and balanced. But this video does look awesome, and the campaign for MoH is looking awesome. These videos arent helping my decision on whether to buy MoH or Deadrising 2.”
So there you have it, those are our three winners but we’re not done yet. We’d also like to very quickly recognize some of the other great readers/commentors we have out there. First, we’d like to point out Axe99 and Vicheous as both of them are long time members of the site and still visit very frequently to add their two cents.
Beyond them, we’d also like to point out some of our other regulars, such as FurryFreak, ThatBoyTim, jimsmells and theturk. Those four fellows have either been with the site for a while and/or also left some fantastic comments in the month of September.
Thanks again to everyone for making this contest a resounding success. We’re not kidding when we say that there were well over 15 different people considered for the top 3. Not only that but over 600 comments were read by the PS3A staff (sometimes twice) in an effort to decide who would be the big winners.
Upset you didn’t win? Don’t be. First, no one likes a sore loser, and second, there’s already another contest with even bigger prizes that is already under way. So show a renewed sense of motivation and go speak your mind. While you’re at it, show some class and determination and let these three guys know how happy you are for them, but how badly you’re going to beat them next time.
