Castlevania: Lords of Shadow ships one million units
Here at PS3 Attitude, there are few things that please us more than seeing a very good game boast very good sales. As you no doubt read from our review, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow was indeed a very good game. So far, it looks like it’s also selling very well.
Between taking a risk by ditching the old 2D side-scrolling gameplay, and launching at a time when there were a lot of other notable games coming out, we don’t think anyone would’ve been surprised if Castlevania didn’t sell all that well at retail. While we don’t know exactly how many units have actually left store shelves, we do know that Konami has now shipped over one million of them across the United States and Europe.
Shinji Hirano, President of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. said the following about the milestone:
“Castlevania has truly reinvented itself with its move to next gen platforms and we’re extremely pleased at the positive response we’ve seen toward Castlevania: Lords of Shadow globally, mainly due to the dedicated fans who have supported the series for so long. The remarkable sales achieved in such a short time are a true testament of the work and dedication that went into this project, and we’re very grateful to have partnered with such fine talent in the rebirth of one of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc.’s most successful franchises.”
Again, we don’t have the exact retail figures and Konami hasn’t given them out but we can only assume they wouldn’t keep shipping them if folks weren’t buying them. Have you played Castlevania: Lords of Shadow yet? If so, what did you think?
