Fallout: New Vegas ships 5 million units; new patch coming

Submitted by on Monday, 8 November 20109 Comments

We all knew Fallout: New Vegas was going to be a smashing success but none of us had really seen sales projections for Bethesda/Obsidian’s new post-apocalyptic shooter.  Well apparently it’s selling well… extremely well.

In a recently press release, Bethesda detailed the success of their latest title and the results are pretty astounding.  Five million units have been shipped world wide and with Christmas coming up, that number will definitely grow.  It helps that three of the four major gaming platforms support it but those figures are still pretty amazing.

Perhaps even more exciting is that there’s another patch on the way.  The single complaint everyone seems to have is the overabundance of bugs and glitches but thankfully, they’re working on it.  Over on the Bethesda Blog, it’s mentioned that a patch for all three versions of the game is currently going through certification and should be available in the coming weeks.

So what do these numbers mean to you?  Are you a part of the masses that has purchased this game?  If so, what do you think of it so far?
