Gran Turismo 5 to be released… in 12 days!
A new release date has been confirmed for the perpetually delayed Gran Turismo 5, and it’s coming sooner than you may have anticipated. Gran Turismo 5 will be released on the 24th of November, and not next year as had been erroneously reported by some. That’s only 12 days away – and yes, that is official.
This isn’t a complete surprise. Earlier this month Kazunori Yamauchi, CEO of Polyphony Digital, confirmed to the online publication jalopnik that “the discs are being stamped as we speak.” However, while it may have been clear that the game wasn’t far off, we never expected to be playing it on the 24th of this month. You’ll struggle to find many AAA titles receiving a release date only 12 days before hitting shelves.
Yet, Gran Turismo 5 isn’t your typical game: it’s arguably one of the most anticipated games of this generation, if not one of the most anticipated games of all time. It’s been over five years in the making. Five years of Yamauchi and his team striving for perfection.
This desire for perfection has led to them missing several deadlines. We expected to have it in 2009, but that didn’t happen. Its 2nd of November release date seemed to be cast in stone – apparently not. Nevertheless, we’re confident that this date will stick.
Yamauchi must be feeling pretty nervous right now. How can any game live up to the level of expectation that Gran Turismo 5 has generated? Yet, if any game can do it, this can. Check out the car and track lists below:
