L.A. Noire: ground-breaking lip-sync in debut trailer
Rockstar has finally unveiled video footage of their upcoming crime thriller, L.A. Noire. The game is set to have a cinematic feel, a distinctive setting and very impressive acting. All are present in the trailer, but we’re especially blown away by the incredible lip-sync.
L.A. Noire is being developed by Australian devs Team Bondi, who are looking to blend action, detection and complex storytelling, as they attempt to draw the player into an open-ended challenge to solve a series of gruesome murders. We are expecting the game to have a slower pace than most current generation titles – and that’s not a bad thing, eg. Heavy Rain.
Possibly the most appealing aspect of L.A. Noire (aside from the realistic lip-sync) is the distinctive setting. It is set in 1940s Los Angeles, complete with all its grit and classic noir. It makes us want to go back and re-watch some classic films such as Chinatown, Lady of Shanghai and LA Confidential.
Another point worth making: the clips you will be viewing in the trailer are all done using the in-game engine, nothing is pre-rendered. Not bad eh?
The game is scheduled for a Spring 2011 release. So what’s your first impressions of L.A. Noire? Let us know below…
