Netflix instant streaming gets its own package

I can’t speak for the rest of the crew but if you’re anything like me, you love Netflix instant streaming.  The problem I’ve always had with it is the disc portion.  I always feel like I’m paying for something I don’t use because most of the time, whatever disc I have at home usually stays there for the majority of the month.  Netflix now has a solution.

Don’t get me wrong, I know I’m in the minority of Netflix users – having very little interest in the disc-portion of the service.  After all, most subscribers started with Netflix because they wanted their discs through the mail.  That was true for me too, until the instant streaming service came along.  Now, I’d just as much rather use a disc as a device to stop condensation off my beer from hitting the coffee table.

Thankfully, for people like me, there’s now a better way.  Netflix just announced that they will be offering a streaming-only service in the U.S. for only $7.99.  Not only that, but all of their disc-based plans will be getting a minor price hike.  It’s almost like they’re asking subscribers to ditch the disc.

Regardless, this is good news indeed… for me.  How about you?  Is a streaming-only service any more appealing than one that comes with a disc for you American readers?
