David Jaffe confirms Kratos as playable character in upcoming Mortal Kombat

god of war 3 head David Jaffe confirms Kratos as playable character in upcoming Mortal Kombat Rage. Vengeance. Fatality.

Earlier today, StickSkills reported that God of War’s Kratos will be a playable character in the upcoming Mortal Kombat game. According to his source, which was the Official PlayStation Magazine, Kratos will have his own fatalities, moves, and his very own stage themed after the God of War series. Kratos will not be featured in the storyline and will only be playable in the vs mode. The mode that really matters.

Seeing as this seemed too good to be true, we wanted to wait until we got our hands on the magazine to confirm the story. Well, that’s until David Jaffe confirmed it himself through his twitter account. Here’s what he had to say:

LOVE that Kratos is in the new MK. So bummed he’s not in the story portion. Heard about it from Ed at E3 this year and had to keep super mum on it but man, ****ing LOVE it. He totally fits in that world. I **** you not- on some level I feel like all the characters I work on are alive and that I have a relationship with them and I can tell you, if I know Kratos- and I do!- he’s ****ing LOVING his time in the MK Universe. I bet he makes a **** ton of friends there. He should pull Zeus in and ****ing leave his *** there!

So there you have it. Kratos is in Mortal Kombat. Who would have expected that HipHopGamer’s rumor from a few months back would end up being true. Definitely read some of Jaffe’s ideas on the types of moves he’d give to Kratos. It’s definitely not safe for kids to read, but it really does capture Kratos’ undeniable charm. Raiden better watch out…

This will actually be the second time the character has been featured in a fighting game. If you didn’t know, Kratos was also a playable character in Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny for the PSP.
