DC Universe Online goes gold, gets a January release date
After a two month delay, it seems like Sony Online Entertainment is finally ready to ship DC Universe Online to retailers.
Earlier today, SOE sent out a press release announcing the release date for its upcoming MMO. If you’re in North America, expect the game to hit store shelves on January 11 for $59.99. According to IGN, DCU Online launches on January 14.
DC Universe Online includes a 30 day membership. Once that time period ends you’ll have to pay a monthly fee of $15/€13. That seems a bit pricey compared to other MMOs. If you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber there is a free beta to download. It requires 15GBs of space but it’s definitely worth checking out.
An update for the beta was actually just release today, although there doesn’t appear to be any patch notes anywhere. From what I can tell, the menus have been altered, some text has been changed, and there are new voice overs, loading screens, and cutscenes to watch. I also noticed that I could modify my character’s appearance (the color palette, specifically) in the start menu.
