The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced
Another big announcement to come out of the VGAs was the news that Bethesda Game Studios are working on a new The Elder Scrolls game. It will be called The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and it is due for release on 11.11.11 – something tells us the date wasn’t chosen for logistical reasons.
The early teaser trailer didn’t reveal much, but the visuals were looking very sharp. Skyrim will be running on an all-new internally developed engine and not the one that underperformed on the PlayStation 3 versions of Fallout 3 and Oblivion. This is good news.
Todd Howard is leading the development, and the director had this to say:
“It’s exciting finally to announce the game. We’ve been working for many years on Skyrim and the technology behind it. A new Elder Scrolls game has been a long time coming, and we can’t wait to show it off.”
We can’t wait to see it. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is still one of the best role-playing games of this generation, and we are hopeful that Skyrim will be better. There will be more news in the next issue of GameInformer, which will go on sale on 6 January. In the meantime, check out the trailer below…
