ITV and Channel 4 on-demand channels are live [update]

Submitted by on Monday, 13 December 20108 Comments

Soon commercial programming from ITV and Channel 4 will be available to view via the PlayStation 3. The ITV Player and 4oD channels should arrive this week, according to the Guardian, allowing UK users to catch up on Corrie and the Peep Shown on their HDTVs

The update expands the PlayStation 3’s media capabilities. Last year, it started with BBC’s iPlayer, which has proven to be extremely successful, and recently we saw  the addition of film streaming services from MUBI and LoveFilm.

Alan Duncan, the marketing director for PlayStation in the UK, has been reported to have said that  ITV and Channel 4 could expect an incremental increase in traffic of about 10%. With figures like that, everyone will be a winner.

So what programmes are you looking forward to watching on-demand from the comfort of your sofa? X Factor? Shameless? Let us know below…

As of this morning, these two channels are available. They can be found just below the BBC iPlayer on the dashboard. Irish users aren't missing out either, they now have the RTÉ Player player on their dashboards. Awesome, eh? Sorry, would write more, but we're off to watch Misfits.
