PlayStation news on the move: there’s an app for that
An Official PlayStation App, usable on Apple and most Android phones, is set to be released by Sony in EU territories. The app, which they hope will go live before Christmas, will allow users to keep up to date with the latest PlayStation news, view videos, read the official blog, track trophies and share details with friends over Twitter and Facebook.
The app will be available on iPhone and iPod Touch with OS 4 and above, and most Android compatible handsets with a minimum of OS 1.6.
Sony plan to roll out more features in the coming months, but this is what version 1.0 can do:
- Check out your PlayStation Network trophies and keep up to date with your friends’ games and online status.
- Discover all the latest games, news and hardware for your PlayStation 3, PSP and PlayStation 2.
- Read all the announcements on the European PlayStation.Blog.
- Share your favourite products or news with your friends on Facebook, Twitter or via e-mail.
Phone owners from the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and The Netherlands will be amongst the first to be able to download the app. This is sad news for the rest of Europe, but Sony has said that more nations will receive the app soon. Sadly, Blackberry owners can also count themselves disappointed.
As for the lucky many, what do you think of the new app? It’s good to see Sony becoming media savvy, don’t you think?
