The Darkness II invades your console this fall

Submitted by on Tuesday, 8 February 20115 Comments

2K Games has announced that the sequel to 2007’s supernatural first person shooter The Darkness will be released this fall.

Set two years in the future, The Darkness II continues to follow mobster Jackie Estacado, now Don of the Franchetti crime family, as an all out mob war against his life has been organized by some mysterious force. Once again, he must use the powers of The Darkness to get to the bottom of things.

The narrative is provided by award-winning comic book writer Paul Jenkins, whose notable works include Hellblazer, The Sentry, Spider-Man, and others in the Marvel and DC universe.

The Darkness II is a well of dark and imaginative violence, and it’s a stylized and beautiful nightmare,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “The Darkness II continues the 2K Games tradition of delivering quality, innovative games that are filled to the brim with atmosphere and deep storytelling. The game takes a unique stance on fighting in the dark versus light. Combined with the arsenal of weapons at Jackie’s disposal and the gruesome attacks of the supernatural Demon Arms and Darkness powers, we’re proud to announce another title that delivers on our core values of creating games for gamers.”

The Darkness II features what 2K Games is calling Quad-Wielding, meaning that you’ll be able to simultaneously fire two weapons at once, all the while using the powers of The Darkness to slash and throw enemies and objects.

Currently all we have is this single screenshot to satisfy our dark appetite for The Darkness II. You can check out the official website for more information as it becomes available.
