Get familiar with L.A. Noire

Submitted by on Thursday, 10 February 20115 Comments

L.A. Noire is slated for a May 17th release giving us ample time to drum up all sorts of excitement. If you’re not a fan of Rockstar’s previous games then chances are you haven’t pre-ordered the Hollywood crime drama but it is worth noting that the upcoming title represents a bit of a departure from former outings.

To give you a better idea of what we speak Rockstar has provided this handy video that will give you a proper overview of the game. Pay attention people the orientation is about to begin.

What you’ll find in L.A. Noire is a more taut and focused storyline than that which was featured in the Grand Theft Auto series.

The video shows how detective work and interrogation is handled in the game. It appears that Cole Phelp’s notepad will serve as the catalyst during questioning, giving the player a streamlined outlook on the case and the answers necessary to solve it.

From what we’ve seen prior and in this video, the gameplay looks to be similar to that of Red Dead Redemption. No doubt you will know this is a Rockstar game as their┬ásignature compass and waypoint style looks to feature prominently in the game (among other similarities).

As we piece together more about the highly anticipated game it becomes increasingly difficult not to compare it to others that we’ve seen before. For instance one might say that the gathering clues aspects of the game reflects that of Heavy Rain (sans super glasses) but gamers that plan to play the game are best served not to jump into it with preconceived notions.

May 17th may be a little far from today but if Rockstar and Team Bondi deliver a great game it will be well worth the wait.

What excites or doesn’t excite you most about L.A. Noire?
