Capcom reveals Dragon’s Dogma for 2012
At last week’s Captivate, Capcom’s annual press event, the company revealed a project they have been working on for the past three years, Dragon’s Dogma.
From director Hideaki Itsuno and producer Hiroyuki Kabayashi, the creators of Devil May Cry 4 and Resident Evil 4, comes a new open world adventure filled with dragons, hydras, and other mythical beasts. While at first glance it may look like just another Monster Hunter mixed in with a bit of Demon’s Souls, Capcom assures us that Dragon’s Dogma is something very different.
Players will be able to choose from three classes – Fighter, Strider, and Mage. Each character has their own stats and special abilities. In addition, you can recruit NPCs known as Pawns to your party as you embark on various quests. You’ll be able to order commands to your party and have them provide support or advice. There are over 200 of these characters to be found, each with their own dialog and routine, so customizing a party to fit your needs shouldn’t be a problem.
What sets Dragon’s Dogma apart from Monster Hunter is its storyline and plot. The main quest should take upwards of 30 hours and that’s not counting side missions.
If all this doesn’t get you excited for Dragon’s Dogma, the debut trailer sure will.
