Shadows of the Damned developer diary
Iconic Japanese developers Shinji Mikami and Suda51 provide a very entertaining developer diary giving gamers a closer look at their game.
Before we get to the hilarious dubbing and voice work allow us to first discuss the game. Part survival-horror and part puzzle game Shadows of the Damned is admittedly influenced by the control scheme of Resident Evil 4 (Mikami was the game’s director) and is centered around a continual struggle between darkness and light.
Gamers will take on the role of Garcia Hotspur, a demon hunter traveling through hell on a mission to rescue girlfriend from demonic clutches.
The demon hunter’s most potent weapon on his journey into the city of the damned will be light. Demons encountered in the game will be empowered to the point of being unstoppable by veils of darkness and punching a hole in these veils will of course be integral tipping the scales in your favor. The perpetual quest to let in the light has the potential to provide the game with some unique gameplay circumstances to go along with the striking visuals.
The game looks promising but the developer diary itself is amusing in its own right. It’s goofy and excessive plus the voice of Garcia’s shape-shifting skull Johnson is simply not to be missed.
No doubt the developers gave you greater insight into their punk rock adventure though hell. Hit us up in the comments and let us know if Shadows of the Damned intrigues you.
