A stitch in time saves Spider-Man

It seems that Beenox did such a fantastic job with the Spider-Man franchise with the critically acclaimed Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions that they have been given the opportunity to revisit the beloved comic in the forthcoming Spider-Man: Edge of Time.

The latest trailer will shed some light on the recently announced title that will have you swinging through time. Don’t forget the screenshots, they’re amazing. Cue the laugh track.

In Spider-Man: Edge of Time players will be tasked with redirecting a sequence of events that brings forth a grim future. At the center of this chain reaction is the rather untimely death of one Peter Parker.

Woven tightly together in the narrative will be the roles of both Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2099. To ensure a truly authentic web-slinging experience the game’s developers have sought the pen of veteran Spider-Man author and co-creator of the Spider-Man 2099 series, Peter David.

“At Beenox, we are constantly listening to the fans and looking for new and creative ways to innovate the gameplay experience for them.  We want to create a totally distinct experience in Spider-Man: Edge of Time by working with Peter David on the story and creating this urgent, high-stakes experience where time is working against you and the fate of Spider-Man hangs in the balance.” – Dee Brown, Studio Head, Beenox

Gamers will seemingly oscillate between the modern day hero and his future counterpart. In case you have no experience with time travel you can be sure that actions in the past will have a multitude of consequences in the future, many of them of course unintended.

If the screenshots below are any indication, gamers will have the ability to view the outcome of their actions as they are happening.

Let us know what you think of Spidey’s next adventure. The number of Spider-Men has been cut in half from Shattered Dimensions, but does the addition of time travel make up for that?
