At the intersection of Google StreetView and Grand Theft Auto IV
Dedicated super-fans can do some pretty incredible things with the games they love. Inspiration can take one down many different avenues but what happens when the entirety of GTA IV’s Liberty City is mapped using Google’s handy StreetView application?
Google StreetView is a feature of Google Maps which allows travelers to get a street level view of a majority of the world’s cities. It allows for 360 degrees of visibility in a given city. Go ahead and give it a try. It’s a great tool for weary travelers and has contributed to the practically useless rendering of the common atlas.
It’s the damnedest thing when you are making your way to the gun store and before you know it you’re knee deep in the wrong part of town. That kind of mistake can get a man killed in Liberty City.
Thankfully a group of fans at gta4.net has painstakingly constructed a StreetView inspired perspective of Liberty City made up of thousands of individual screenshots.
In addition to being incredibly impressive the map serves as great tool for those of us looking to fully complete GTA IV. The locations of all the items of interest are precisely marked including each and every flying rodent.
The map must be seen to believe so head on over to gta4.net and check it out.
Before you go leave us your thoughts on the labor of love. What game would be hardest to duplicate this achievement for?
