Binary Domain – story trailer
Binary Domain is the latest venture from Toshihiro Nagoshi, one of the minds behind the Yakuza series. This time around he’s traded in the Tokyo underworld for robotic revolution. This is what happens when robots stop taking orders.
No matter how many movies, TV shows and books are created to warn us of the impeding doom relegated by our increasing dependence on robotic ingenuity we never seem to learn.
First it’s ‘Oh hey this robot can vacuum my floor’ or ‘awesome Robosapien, where’d you get it?’. Next thing you know we’ve got androids shedding their artificial tissue in a full on blood rage.
This February gamers will have the opportunity to fight back the emotionless hordes in Binary Domain, an existential squad-based shooter. Players will need to embrace their most human qualities: faith, trust and loyalty to see themselves through the gathering robotic apocalypse.
As the leader of your team, appealing to the emotions of your squad will directly effect their actions in battle. A decision to spurn one of the gunners may ultimately lead to them not fully trusting your decision making during a firefight. That seemingly insignificant action or dialogue choice may be what spells your undoing. With humanity at stake you can’t afford any missteps.
What do you think of the trailer? Is a future robotic takeover a tired cliché? Does anyone else notice a strong similarity to the Mass Effect series? Hit us up in the comment section.
