E3 11; Trailer Roundup – Uncharted 3, Far Cry 3, The Darkness II
This year’s E3 was incredibly dense. Trailers, screenshots, impressions and press releases have been pouring out this week. Now that everyone has packed up and fled Los Angeles, we’d like to tie up a few loose ends with a trio of trailers for Far Cry 3, The Darkness II and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.
First off we have Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. The game looks quite impressive and has a sparkling new November release date to boot. Backstabbing, ulterior motives and sand are sure to be some of the principle themes of Nathan Drake’s next adventure.
This Far Cry 3 developer demo is a long form look at the gameplay from the Ubisoft conference. The demo opens on an island run by the certifiably-mad Vaas. Unfortunately he’s taken the time to strap you securely to a cinder block that peers over a steep cliff. At the conclusion of his tirade on insanity, wherein he calmly ignores the murdering taking place behind him, Vaas decides that he’s had enough of your incessant staring and sends you over the edge.
From there the demo explodes into a storm of combat which concludes when the helicopter you’ve procured is shot down (do helicopter pilots ever survive?). Although Ubisoft has yet to nail down a release date for Far Cry 3 this one looks incredibly promising.
The next trailer is for the Darkness II and it is quite bloody so it may be best to avert delicate eyes.
In The Darkness II Jackie Estacado returns now as the Don of his familia. A group known only as ‘The Brotherhood’ has its collective eye on the Darkness. Of course Jackie isn’t going to relinquish it quietly and ultimately he will have to again unleash the twin demons.
With Jackie being able to dual-wield weapons while the Darkness simultaneously wreaking havoc it doesn’t appear to be a good time to join The Brotherhood’s effort.
Let us know what you think about the trailers. Which one is your favorite?
