Modern Warfare 3 preview & bonus Escalation DLC giveaway
When it comes to videogames, the Call of Duty franchise reigns supreme. Whenever a new game is release, it shatters records, not just for games but for the entire entertainment industry. This is why the upcoming Modern Warfare 3 is such a big deal. We were able to get a firsthand look at some gameplay during E3; exploring just a few of the missions you’ll be tasked with.
Taking place right after the events of Modern Warfare 2, MW3 will take place on a global scale taking you to locations around the world including New York, England, Germany, etc. No doubt you’ve already seen the various city-specific reveal trailers online.
The first mission we experienced placed us in the New York City harbor. Our goal was to secretly plant a mine on an incoming sub from our underwater SeaBobs. Exploring the rubble and destruction around you, you can tell that things haven’t gone so smoothly since we last left our soldiers. Sunken cars and Russian mines are just a few of the obstacles you’ll have to avoid. Still, this is just the calm before the storm.
Once you explode the mine on the sub, causing it to surface, that’s when the real fireworks begin. You’ll see that New York City is in ruins as a result of the Russian invasion. All of this, of course, you see from a distance. That’s what sets Modern Warfare 3 apart from its predecessors. There is so much action going on in the background, more so than ever before. Missiles were flying buildings were exploding; it was absolute madness, especially after you’ve launched the missiles from the sub and are trying to escape the harbor. If Michael Bay were to make a video game, I think it’d be Modern Warfare 3.
The next mission we say was vastly different from the first. Traveling from the city of New York to the United Kingdom, the gameplay differs slightly in that there isn’t as much chaos going on around you. The mission is to track a shipment of packages with the help of your British comrades. More foot travel is involved but you can expect more of the same explosions and gunfights as before only instead of massive warships blowing up, it’s cars.
From what we’ve seen so far, Modern Warfare 3 is shaping up to be exactly like the rest of the games in the series only with enhanced graphics. Gameplay has remained basically the same, and from what we can tell, the story sounds just as crazy and ridiculous as before. Then again, if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it. Seeing as Modern Warfare 2 sold millions on day one, we don’t expect any problems of 3 doing the same.
