Bethesda Softworks announces Dishonored for 2012

Submitted by on Thursday, 7 July 2011One Comment

Bethesda Softworks, the masterminds behind the critically acclaimed Elder Scrolls and Fallout franchises, have announced Dishonored, a new IP from developers Arkane Studios.

Not many details have been revealed so far except that it will be a first-person action game. More details are soon to follow in the August issue of Game Informer. We do have, however, the cover art for that issue.

From what information we can gather, it looks like our protagonist is holding either a mask or some sort of robotic head as he walks through the rat infested streets. In the upper left corner the message, “The Boldest Measures Are The Safest,” is displayed. Sound, and looks, very post-apocalyptic to us.

Dishonored is being developed under the direction of co-creative directors, Raphael Colantonio, lead designer on Arx Fatalis, and Harvey Smith, lead designer on Deus Ex, and is set for release sometime in 2012.

“At Arkane we have a passion for creating deep, immersive game experiences,” said Colantonio. “To be able to finally share details of our project is both extremely exciting and satisfying.”

Details will be released in the new issue of Game Informer as well on GI’s website. You can check out the official page for Dishonored, although there isn’t much at the moment.
