Capcom reveals Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3; includes 12 new characters

Submitted by on Wednesday, 20 July 2011One Comment

Capcom is known to add intense adjectives such as ‘super’ or ‘ultimate’ onto their fighting games and re-release them with more characters, modes, etc. Just look at Super Street Fighter IV. It should come as no surprise then that Capcom has announced Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

The game boasts 12 new characters, bringing the total roster to 50, eight new stages, a redefined fight system and will be release this fall for $39.99. Is that enough to warrant another purchase though?

For the Marvel side, Ultimate MvC3 will see Hawkeye and Ghost Rider. For Capcom, Strider Hiryu and Firebrand have been revealed. More fighters will be announced in the coming months. We think it’s save to assume that DLC characters Jill and Shuma Gorath will be included in the game as well.

While none of the stage names have been revealed, we do get a brief look at two of them in the videos seen below. One appears to be a snow covered version of Tron Bonne’s level and the other taking place in the temple streets.

It appears this is the reason why we haven’t seen any more DLC characters for Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Apparently they were saving them all for Ultimate. Thoughts?
