Critics fall for Uncharted 3, Batman: Arkham City and Battlefield 3 [Update]
News of near perfect (sometimes perfect) Uncharted 3 and Battlefield 3 scores has exploded across the internet today. The high ratings follow on from the incredible critical success of Batman: Arkham City last week. But which do the critics love most?
So far it is Batman: Arkham City, with an average Metacritic of 96 from 26 reviewers on PS3. The Dark Knight has been given perfect scores from Official PlayStation Magazine, 1UP, Game Informer and others. Other major outlets, such as Games Radar and The Guardian, gave perfect scores to the Xbox360 version, which is near enough identical. The 360 version has a Metacritic of 95 from 53 review sources. Of course, no review list is complete without our very own.
Battlefield 3 reviews arrived this morning with equally impressive ratings. It is currently sitting on 93 from 16 sources. Game Spy gave it perfect marks, Game Informer plumped for 95, CVG went for 92 and IGN settled on 90. All reviews so far are for the PC version. We’re expecting a slight drop in scores for the console versions, but overall DICE can be very pleased so far.
The other big hitter, Uncharted 3, is currently averaging 93 from 29 sources. It has received full marks from 10 of those sources, which includes Official PlayStation Magazine, 1UP, IGN, IncGamers and Giant Bomb. Scores dipped slightly due to eight out of 10 scores from Eurogamer, Gamekult and Gamereactor Denmark – which are still impressive, of course.

Batman: Arkham City scores are unlikely to fluctuate much now that the game has been out for a week, but expect to see changes from Battlefield 3 and Uncharted 3. It is hard to predict how drastically the Battlefield 3 average will shift once the console version is reviewed.
Either way, we’re seeing three games receiving incredibly high scores. It is rare to see games achieve such universal acclaim; it is even rarer to have three land at roughly the same time.
We’re not finished though. November will form a monster in the face of Skyrim, and we wouldn’t bet against Modern Warfare 3 either. Enthusiasm for the franchise may have dampened of late, but we’d be foolish to completely rule it out.
The only question remains is: which of the above excites YOU the most?
