Mad Catz leads the way as industry backs #Dolph10k

Submitted by on Wednesday, 9 November 20114 Comments

It’s safe to say our editor-in-chief DolphGB had one of those “really, honest, am I really doing this?” moments when he signed up for the UK’s toughest 10k obstacle course race. After all, he hadn’t willingly performed any exercise in over a decade, unless you count him twitching his thumbs on a DualShock pad.

This Saturday’s race is going to be one of the hardest challenges he’s ever faced (yes, harder than defeating a God or the vast Helghast army), but that’s the point, though; isn’t it? It wouldn’t be much of a charity endeavour if it didn’t require him to do something stupid, like this.

Support is critical for these kind of events, and we have say we’ve been absolutely thrilled by the support we’ve received from a wide variety of people and companies throughout the industry.

Mad Catz led the way; not only were they one of the first to support #Dolph10k, they also donated a truly special prize for our ongoing charity prize draw. The prize is a Street Fighter X Tekken Fightstick. No one does fightsticks better than Mad Catz, and you need one of these if you want to be a pro. The Street Fighter X Tekken stick is the latest in the line from Mad Catz, and it is one of only a 1000 models. Did we mention that these are going for $159.99 on GameShark? It really is premium quality.

Support has also come from many other sources, from mammoth publishers such as Activision and Capcom to smaller sized companies such as MonkeyPay Games and ThatGameCompany. Even the videogame fashion company Insert Coin were kind enough to throw in a few of their super-stylish shirts, each valued at £20.

We have even received support from individuals in industry who we hugely respect, such as Naughty Dog co-lead designer Richard Lemarchand, who made a very kind personal donation. By the way, if you haven’t played Uncharted 3 yet, sort yourself out.

A full list of the prizes up for grabs can be found over on the competition page. Make sure you head over and have a look, and more importantly, take part. For only £5 you can be in with a chance of winning a $159.99 limited edition fightstick. You have a great chance of winning something because we have so many prizes up for grabs, but more importantly, you will be showing your support for GamesAid, a truly worth cause.

For now we just want to say thank you to everyone who has supported #Dolph10k. So thank you Mad Catz, Tim Willits,  Richard Lemarchand, 505 Games, Capcom, HandCircus, Zen Studios, MonkeyPaw Games, Dark Energy Digital, Two Tribes, NIS America, ThatGameCompany and Insert Coin. We’d also like to thank everyone who has spread the word and donated so far. Apologies for anyone we have missed.

We’re not finished yet. We still have until Saturday, so let’s generate as much money for GamesAid as possible and get you guys/girls some prizes.
