PS2 platformer fans have a lot to be excited about on PS3 next year
It’s been rumoured for a few months now, but this week Naughty Dog and Sony finally announced the Jak and Daxter Collection for PS3, an HD remake of the original PS2 trilogy.
In other news, Ubisoft has revealed that Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc will also be getting an HD release next year.
The Jak and Daxter Collection is scheduled for release in February, and will include Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Jak II and Jak 3 on one Blu-Ray disc, all with full Trophy and 3D support.
The port is being handled by California-based company Mass Media, who are ‘working closely’ with Naughty Dog. Dissapointingly, the collection will not include Jak X: Combat Racing or either of the series’ PSP titles, but they have to save something for Volume 2, right?
Ubisoft is currently enjoying great critical success with Rayman Origins, so now was the perfect time to announce an HD version of Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc for the PlayStation Network.
Releasing in the spring, the game will run at 60fps and feature improved audio. Another HD remake by Ubisoft, Beyond Good & Evil, was released earlier this year to a fantastic reception, so we’re confident the quality of Rayman 3 HD will be equally great.
Between the Jak and Daxter trilogy and Rayman 3, platformer fans have lots to look forward to on PS3 next year. Now if only Sony would do the same for Ratchet & Clank, then we’d be all set.
