Rainbow 6 Patriots revealed as Game Informer’s December cover story
Rainbow 6 Patriots has been revealed as Game Informer’s cover story for December, GI announced today. The game is said to be taking the Rainbow 6 franchise in an entirely new direction.
Players will be able to step in the shoes of three entirely different factions; Team Rainbow, a homegrown terrorist uprising, and the civilians caught in the crossfire. The terrorists, known as True Patriots, are attempting to overthrow the U.S. government and will go through any means necessary to accomplish their mission.
“Terrorism has evolved, and so has Rainbow 6. In Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots, all the team play, tactics, and realism that fans of the series love have been coupled with an exciting new narrative direction,” said David Sears, creative director at Ubisoft. “This adds an unprecedented level of humanity that will make Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots an extremely tense and immersive experience.”
Game Informer has also posted a prototype video that Ubisoft Montreal put together to pitch the idea of Rainbow 6 Patriots. It should be noted that this video was created using target gameplay footage, meaning that this is how they hope the finish product will look. Still, the video is extremely impressive nonetheless.
Don’t get too excited though, because Rainbow 6 Patriots isn’t due out until 2013 at the earliest. You can find the December issue of Game Informer in stores on November 30th. Until then, you can check out their official hub for Rainbow 6 Patriots.
