The Last of Us details, first trailer revealed

Submitted by on Sunday, 11 December 2011No Comment

Details have surfaced concerning the forthcoming PS3 exclusive, The Last of Us. Among them is the revelation that none other than Naughty Dog is behind the game’s development.

We didn’t have much time to speculate as to the origins of The Last of Us trailer which hit last week. However Naughty Dog made such speculations irrelevant today with the announcement that it is spearheading the development of the survival experience which has been in production for quite some time.

“We are excited to finally unveil The Last of Us, a project the team has been working hard on for some time. Naughty Dog’s mission is to change the way people experience videogames. We are confident The Last of Us will take a leap forward in cinematic gaming and storytelling, providing gamers with an experience unlike anything else in the industry.” – Evan Wells, Co-President, Naughty Dog

As of yet very little is known about the game itself outside of a few broad details. The Last of Us will follow the lives of Ellie, described as a brave teenage girl wise beyond her years, and Joel, a ruthless survivor, who made their debut in the newly released trailer. With an aggressive plague infecting humanity and tearing down the framework of society the concept of the ‘urban jungle’ fast becomes an acute characterization of human surroundings. As you can see both Ellie and Joel are forced to do some otherwise troubling things in the name of survival.

Nothing concrete has been set by either Sony or Naughty Dog as we are yet to receive even a release window for The Last of Us. Until then let us know what you think of the trailer and the prospects of the game.
