Resident Evil 6 coming this November
Capcom has official unveiled the next installment in the Resident Evil franchise. Turns out fans were right in that the creepy No Hope Left viral campaign was indeed for Resident Evil 6. Set 10 years after the Raccoon City incident, Resident Evil 6 will follow both Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield as they uncover a new threat in bioterrorism, one where there is no hope left.
According to the press release,
“The President of the United States has decided to reveal the truth behind what took place in the belief that it will curb the current resurgence in bioterrorist activity. Due to be by the President’s side is his personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Kennedy, but when the venue suffers a bioterrorist attack, Leon is forced to face a President transformed beyond recognition and make his hardest ever decision. At the same time, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China, itself under threat of a bioterrorist attack. With no country safe from these attacks and the ensuing outbreaks, the entire world’s population is united by a common fear that there is no hope left.”
In the debut trailer, we see a much older Leon and much less muscled Chris tackle the new viral outbreak across the globe. They are accompanied by plenty of new characters as well it seems. Gameplay appears to be the same over-the-shoulder camera angle that Resident Evil 4 introduced, although there are brief glimpses of some fancy footwork by our heroes.
Resident Evil 6 will also feature some form of co-op, Capcom announced. The game is set for release on November 20, 2012. GameStop, Best Buy and Amazon are currently accepting pre-orders for the game and will each get “an exclusive map that will function with various modes in the game.” What exactly this “map” details has yet to be revealed. Multiplayer perhaps?
