No doubt they knew a sub-par year in film was no match for a fantastic year of downloadable games. Sign into the PlayStation Store to vote for your favorites.

Outside of the Gamers’ Choice Awards the update brings us a few pearls including Storm, Killzone 3 multiplayer and Majiesto’s favorite game from 2011: Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Epic Quest – The PS3 Attitude Review

Lately, Zen Studios’ focus has been on Marvel Pinball and updating the game with plenty of our favorite Marvel characters straight from the comic books. With the release of the Vengeance and Virtue DLC pack now complete, the developers have shifted back to where the whole pinball craze began; Zen Pinball.

Epic Quest is the newest table to grace the platform and with it comes an entire new RPG element that redefines the pinball genre.

Is 2012 the year Japanese gaming fights back?

This is a tough generation for Japanese devs working on PS3 with sales and enthusiasm for their products down well below normal and healthy levels.

The UK PS3 game sales charts for 2011 (compiled by GFK Chart-Track) featured no games in the top 10 from Japan. The list was instead dominated by American, Australian, Canadian and European studios. In addition, Japanese devs barely figured in the top 100 multiplatform charts too, excluding the always prolific Nintendo devs.

SSX gameplay trailers tackle Antarctica, New Zealand and the Rockies

SSX’s mission statement is “Defy Reality. Own The Planet.” It’s pretty apt, and we certainly can’t argue with any of it.

It has you tackling 10 mountain ranges from around the world, from Alaska to Japan, via the Rockies, Patagonia, Antarctica, the Alps, Africa, the Himalayas, the Rockies and New Zealand. While doing so, you’re reaching reality bending heights and pulling off crazily contorted moves.

Assassin’s Creed III arriving 30 October 2012

We still have Assassin’s Creed II’s pleasing after-taste in our mouths, not to mention the more recent but equally delectable tastes of Brotherhood and Revelations.

That’s enough to leave even the most gluttonous gamers full, so it wouldn’t surprise us if you aren’t ready for another serving just yet.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 – The PS3 Attitude Review

Final Fantasy XIII is considered a great game by some and even a greater disappointment by many others. Square Enix has let it known that Final Fantasy XIII-2, while it may have the same name in its title, is a completely different experience from its predecessor.

Has the game changed enough to return trust to the faithful fans or should Square Enix have put its resources more towards the next iteration of the franchise?

European PS Store Update for February 15 – A taste of Mass Effect 3

.Unlike the North American store, Vita games will apparently have to wait until next week’s update to make their grand debut on the European stores. There’s no reason to be sullen though because like the North American store a great amount of content is hitting this week.

Highlights this week include the Mass Effect 3 demo, Grand Theft Auto IV and 27, yes 27, PS2 classics.

Take a look.

Under Siege Enhanced Edition – The PS3 Attitude Review

Despite their huge success on PC, RTS (real-time strategy) games have been largely lost on console gamers. While console-dedicated studios have only managed moderate success in their attempts to replicate the addicting gameplay, their PC brethren have enjoyed it for generations. Because of this developers and publishers alike are reluctant to try their hand at this genre, which perhaps represents the greatest opportunity for innovation within the industry.
