Rebellion’s Sniper Elite V2 promises bloody kill-cam action

Submitted by on Wednesday, 7 March 2012No Comment

“The hearts and lungs tear, livers burst, bones and teeth shatter and entrails fall out.” That’s not your average night out in Blackpool. it’s the beautiful image Sniper Elite V2’s X-Ray kill-cam will offer as your bullet enters your target’s unsuspecting body at a poignantly slow speed. Lovely.

The sequel to Rebellion’s 2005 Sniper Elite promises to offer players the most realistic sniping experience ever with “advanced ballistics, taking into account gravity, wind, velocity, bullet penetration, aim stability and more”.

It puts you in the heart of war-torn Berlin during the Second World War as German and Russian soldiers face off. It uses real Berlin locations, as well as authentic vehicles and weapons.

A greater emphasis is now placed on thinking about the environment as you sneak into ideal sniping positions. Rebellion is also pushing the idea of the “sniper’s choice”. Do you go for the perfect shot and risk not finishing the mission or take the more challenging but reliable route?

Multiplayer modes are also expected, although they haven’t been detailed as of yet.

Rebellion has launched an official forum for Sniper Elite V2 (, and plans are afoot to host Q&A’s within the forum to directly answer fans questions, so head over if you want direct access to the devs. You can also follow the official Facebook and Twitter pages for the latest news.

Sniper Elite on the PS2 was a surprise hit with core gamers, drawing praise for its attention to detail and nail-biting tension. More recent sniping sims, however, such as City Interactive’s  Sniper Ghost Warrior, haven’t fared so well.

Sniper Elite V2 is out in May. Are you happy it’s returning? Let us know below!
