PS3 soon to sport a new BBC app
BBC iPlayer is possibly the best app for the PS3 at the moment; it’s stylish, fast and easy to use. So it’s good news that BBC is teaming up again with Sony, this time to bring a BBC Sport app to the console.
The press release says the app is “designed specifically for the ‘big-screen’ to deliver an ultimate home entertainment experience”. It will arrive in time for the Olympics, during which users will be able to watch 24 simultaneous streams. It will also show F1, Wimbledon and other sporting events. It will give users access to “2,500 hours of content and up to 24 simultaneous live events, all in HD.”
“The principal purpose is to deliver live sporting events where there are simultaneous activities or multiple camera angles, making it an ideal fixture to get front row seats to watch Formula One and major sporting events coming to London this summer, including Wimbledon and the Olympics” – press release

The user interface is similar to that of the BBC Sport website and is compatitble with the PS3 remote. The app will also launch on Sony Bravia TVs.
