Metal Gear Solid HD Collection | PS Vita trailer
Japan has a new trailer for PS Vita’s upcoming Metal Gear Solid HD Collection which is due for release this summer. We don’t speak Japanese – we know, we must try harder – but it’s fairly self-explanatory. Check out it out.
The first half is spent boasting about the sales numbers and awards given to Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 and the second half explores the features that will be unique to the PS Vita versions of the games.
Both games will feature unique touch controls that will give you the ability to:
- switch between weapons by dragging your finger across the weapon icon
- peek around corners by sliding your finger horizontally along the wall
- zoom in and out on your scope by sliding your finger vertically
- and, er, touch EVA’s breasts – we’re not sure that’ll make it into the Western versions or if the finger in the trailer is actually doing something
The remastered versions will also feature trophies and transfarring. That’s Kojima’s crazy term for Cross Play if you don’t know – put the game down on your PS3 and continue playing on the go on your PS Vita. Ideal for those who already own the PS3 version but still want it on PS Vita.
Both Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 are still essential games. They raised the bar for cinematic gameplay when they came out and they still stand up well today. The only disappointment is that this collection won’t have Peace Walker. It’s a truly brilliant game and it is included in the Metal Gear Solid Collection on PS3. An HD version of Peace Walker would have completely won us over.
The package does, however, include the MSX2 games Metal Gear 1 and 2. We’re not sure how well these two early games have aged but we’ll happily give them a go.
But what about you? Are you ready to revisit these or are your memories the only place you’ll be seeing them in the future? Let us know…
