The Last of Us resurfaces with new ‘Truck Ambush’ cinematic

Submitted by on Wednesday, 16 May 2012One Comment

It’s been a while since we last heard word about Naughty Dog’s upcoming post-apocalyptic survival game, The Last of Us, but the studio has just released a new cinematic trailer revealing that Joel and Ellie aren’t the only survivors out there.

The new Truck Ambush trailer shows Joel and Ellie traveling across an abandoned highway when they are forced to take a detour. It’s at that point when a group of hunters spring into action, pretending to be injured in order to catch Joel and Ellie off guard. Watch the trailer and see if they manage to get away!

In an interview with IGN, Naughty Dog Creative Director Neil Druckmann talks about the polarizing characters of Joel and Ellie. Born into this post-apocalyptic world, Ellie  is only familiar with life within the quarantined zone and learns about the world before it through books, magazines, and other pop culture items. Meanwhile, Joel is a survivor of the “old world” and has had to do some pretty gruesome things in order to be where he is. Be sure to check out the full IGN interview for more details.

Hopefully we’ll see more of The Last of Us at E3 in a few weeks. I guess this trailer will just have to tide us over until then.
