Shadow of the Colossus movie in development with Sony Pictures

Sony Pictures and Josh Trank, director of sleeper-hit Chronicle, have teamed up to make a live-action adaptation of the classic Shadow of the Colossus.

Writers are currently being interviewed to help create what will hopefully be a true-to-source video game movie.

Movies based on videogames have had quite a bad reputation amongst gamers but will Shadow of the Colossus break this trend and be universally liked?

For those of you who haven’t played the game or have even heard of it, the story is about a young man named Wander who sets out on a journey to slay 16 giant Colossi so that he is able revive a girl named Mono.

Josh Trank has claimed to have been a massive fan of the game when it saw a release back in 2005 and so sought out the job to direct the movie so hopefully the fate of it is in good hands!

There has been no word on casting, an expected release date or when filming may begin but Kevin Misher, producer of big hits The Interpreter and Public Enemies, has signed on to produce the movie.
