Tower defense meets tower construction in CastleStorm

Submitted by on Wednesday, 30 May 2012One Comment

Hot of the heels of Zen Studios’ announcement of KickBeat comes another game from the famed pinball studio titled CastleStorm. Set for a digital distribution release in 2012, CastleStorm combines tower defense warfare with the ability to construct your own castle for use in the battlefield.

At first glance, CastleStorm looks like a mashup of the tower defense genre and Angry Birds. Two opposing castles face off in medieval warfare with sheep launching ballistas, archers, and knights in shining armor. Towering castles are constructed out of wood and stone and are vulnerable to incoming projectiles. Knocking down an opponents castle won’t be such an easy task, though. Foot soldiers, wizards, and even giant boulder beasts will all be gunning to break down your castle doors so you’ll have to take them out as well.

CastleStorm is frantic tower defense warfare with tons of weapons, enemies and characters. Fending off a barrage of Direwolves, Bear Riders and Hammer Throwers while destroying an enemy castle will make you laugh, think and adapt in order to survive!” said Mel Kirk, Zen Studios Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations.

There are multiple ways in which to win. Depending on the level, you can capture the enemy’s flag, destroy their castle, or complete another predetermined level objective in order to claim victory. CastleStorm will also feature a variety of both local and online multiplayer options, including co-op.

More information can be found on the CastleStorm official website. The game is set for release sometime in 2012 on digital platforms.
