When Sony introduced the Vita, one of the touted features of the device was the ability to have some connectivity between it and the PlayStation 3. Whether it be engaging with console players while on your handheld or transferring saves between the two for quick pick-up-and-go gameplay, it looks like things have gotten even better. WipEout 2048 will have the ability to use DLC from WipEout HD and WipEout HD Fury via a feature called “Cross-Buy”.

Sony stated in recent press release:

Cross-Buy allows consumers the opportunity to buy once and play twice as content for the PS Vita will be free to those who have previously bought the same content for the PS3 on the PlayStation® Store. Cross-Buy also works visa-versa. Players who purchase content for PS Vita will also be entitled to play on PS3 for free.  Already available are a range of PS Vita games that have supported the Cross-Buy feature including Hustle Kings™, Top Darts™, Motorstorm® RC and now WipEout®2048.

I think this kind of feature truly takes advantage of the capabilities of both devices in the Sony ecosystem and is a win-win for all involved. We as gamers get more content at a cheaper rate, the communities around those games grow and you can take your gaming experience wherever you go. The future is awesome!

Let us know what you think about this exciting feature and what other games would you want to see have this?
