Disney Epic Mickey 2 nets a release date

Submitted by on Tuesday, 12 June 2012No Comment

Disney Interactive has officially dated the sequel to 2010’s paint brush-wielding adventure game featuring the world’s most famous mouse. The one and only Mickey Mouse and his pal Oswald have designs on a release before 2012 comes to a close.

Fans of The Magic Kingdom can expect to pick up their copy of Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two in November (18th US/23rd UK) joining an end of the year slate already teeming with highly-anticipated titles.

Previously a Wii exclusive, Epic Mickey 2 marks Mickey’s HD and PS3 debut. Two-player, split-screen co-operative play was recently shown at this past week’s E3 allowing gamers to play as either Mickey with his magic paintbrush or his lesser known chum, Oswald and his equally effective remote control. Uniquely billed as a ‘musical’ game, Disney Interactive promises multiple instances wherein the plot will be advanced by expressions in song. Completely original music will accompany players throughout the quest, providing insight into the consequences of pivotal choices effectively allowing players to conduct their own soundtrack based on their style of play.

“Our fans have told us how eager they are for a sequel to ‘Disney Epic Mickey’ and I’m happy to be able to reveal the launch date for Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two. I think players are going to be excited by the new areas of the game being revealed at E3 where they will need to determine who their friends really are as they team up Mickey Mouse and Oswald to restore balance in Wasteland.” – Warren Spector, creative director and vice president, Junction Point.

Now that we have a release date nailed down for Epic Mickey 2, do you see yourself setting aside enough coin to pick it up in a release window already occupied by the likes of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Assassin’s Creed 3 and Hitman: Absolution?
