E3 12; Highlights from Ubisoft

Submitted by on Wednesday, 6 June 2012One Comment

It has to said that Ubisoft had a terrific conference at E3. This was partly because it was presented by comedienne Aisha Tyler, but mainly because the company has arguably the strongest lineup of games of all third-party publishers.

With blockbuster titles like Assassin’s Creed III, Far Cry 3, and the newly announced Watch Dogs, Ubisoft fans have a lot to look forward to over the next year and beyond. So, let’s get cracking with the trailers, shall we?

Far Cry 3

The more footage Ubisoft show of Far Cry 3, the more intriguing it gets. The gameplay is looking absolutely razor sharp, but the same cannot be said for the mind of protagonist Jason Brody, who it appears is going slightly crazy on the game’s tropical island. At least he won’t be doing so alone though, as Ubisoft revealed the game’s co-op campaign during Sony’s conference.

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Backlist

The latest Splinter Cell game, Conviction, did not appear on the PlayStation 3, but thankfully the newly announced Blacklist is. The footage below shows Sam Fisher, as the leader of the newly created Fourth Echelon, taking down Iraqui terrorists in style.

Rayman Legends

Rayman Origins was an incredible return to form for the limbless wonder, so we were thrilled with the official reveal of its follow-up game, Rayman Legends. Ubisoft has focused mainly on Wii U gameplay, but it looks like the title will be expanding upon what made Origins such a joy to play.

Assassin’s Creed III

Clearly the game everyone was waiting for during Ubisoft’s E3 conference was Assassin’s Creed III, and the company didn’t disappoint. The gameplay still feels a lot like Assassin’s Creed (which, we suppose, it would do), but the new protagonist and setting should give the series a much-needed shot in the arm (no pun intended).

Watch Dogs

Watch Dogs was the final announcement of Ubisoft’s conference, and with good reason; it’s definitely the most impressive new game of E3 so far. Not even a tentative release date was revealed, but if you ask us it can’t come soon enough. Watch the trailer and walkthrough below to find out why.
