The talented Danica Patrick is to be a playable driver in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.
“It’s a very exciting experience since I’ll be sharing the screen with such an iconic character”, says the Nascar driver. “I cannot wait for gamers to jump into my customized, transformable vehicles and give Sonic a run for his rings this holiday season!”
Sonic doesn’t look impressed.
Our Zen expert also played the upcoming Avengers table. Gameplay is seamless and solid.
Zen Pinball 2 Vita allows you to rotate the system and play in Portrait mode. This pleases Majiesto.
Majiesto enjoyed his hands-on with Dishonored. It is evident that there are multiple ways to tackle each task. Graphics could do with some polish though. They have until October.
Check out Corvo’s augmented face mask.
Keiji Infaune has been revealing plenty of details to the press about his exciting Vita project, Soul Sacrifice.
He told VG24/7 that the idea for the game arrived after he left Capcom. He wanted to create a “realistic fantasy” game with multiplayer for a handheld. He picked Vita because it has the highest spec. A chat with Sony Worldwide Studios boss, Shuhei Yoshida, appeared to seal the deal.
Inafune says the main theme is sacrifice:
“You will have to make choices to sacrifice yourself or your friends, for example. How much are you willing to pay to obtain a certain power?”
He says that reality aspect of the game comes from this idea of sacrifice. He talks about how we assume a sorcerer and swordsman are experts from the start in fantasy games. This is clearly not the case: “You have to work at it or pay the cost or give something up in order to get power. That’s what I wanted to convey and that’s why we call it a reality blended fantasy.”
The similarities with Dark Souls are “not intentional”, he says.
The game looks great. Expect to see a lot more of it at TGS later this year. Here’s a screenshot.
Wondering what happened to The last Guardian? Sony Worldwide Studio boss Yoshida told Eurogamer that it is experiencing technical difficulties. Not canned.
Portal 2 is getting new DLC designed for PS Move. DLC includes 20 new chambers and the ability to use Move for the main campaign.
This is how upcoming PS3 title Tokyo Jungle is described in the press notes:
“What happens to man’s best friend, when man doesn’t exist?
With humans extinct, pets have gone feral, zoo animals have escaped captivity and wild creatures are ruling the streets of Tokyo – and all are facing a savage battle for survival.
As the animal of your choice, you must use your cunning, natural instincts and ruthless aggression to seize territory and escape the jaws of your enemies in this original action adventure game.”
God of War: Ascension multiplayer has some brutal kills. Majiesto stuck his sword through a guy and spilled his first all over the ground. Yep
Good news for anyone worrying about Rising. The sword handling is very fluid: right stick controls the blade action, left stick controls location.
Medal of Honor: Warfighter will feature 72 different types of operators to unlock and play as.
New Medal of Honor: Warfighter screens. One is lens flarific.
Show floors open up in an hour and 30 minutes. The Last of Us, PlayStation All Stars, God of War Ascension. First stop, Sony!
Here is the Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation reveal trailer
Aveline, star of upcoming Vita title AC3 Liberation, has the tools of an 18th Century assassin:
Aveline is equipped with dual pistols, a sugarcane machete, a blowpipe and a hidden blade. Liberation is said to make use of Vita’s many control interfaces. A quick swipe of the rear trackpad to use the hidden blade, maybe?
We did get to see the new game from Quantic Dream, outstanding The Last of Us footage, Kratos teaching Far Cry 3 about animal cruelty and a better value PS+.
That is a wrap folks. The heavily rumoured streaming partnership was not announced. No Last Guardian either. No Metal Gear Solid.
There was barely any gun fighting there. Very different from Uncharted.
That was a wonderful well-paced and intense demo.
Enemies duck in fear if you aim a gun at them. They also hear if you’re out of ammo. Hand-to-hand fighting is brutal.
Our man only has four bullets in his revolver.
The Last of Us now!
God of War Ascension is out 12 March 2013.
Combat looks familiar but significantly faster. Technically it looks great. No surprise there.
Time for God of War: Ascension. They are showing the first singleplayer footage.
The fact this involves J.K. Rowling and is tied to her Pottormore project is a massive coup for Sony. It looks charming too.
No J.K. Rowling onstage. Must have misheard. It does include new writing from her tho.
J.K. Rowling takes to the stage to show off Book of Spells! If this does not sell Move, what will?
Wonderbook for PS3. It is a London Studio project, building on the EyePet tech. Working with well-known authors to create a unique AR book experience.
Andy House is on to talk about PS Move. Can Sony finally get some big Move exclusive games.
Far Cry 3 will also get a map editor.
4 player co-op announced for Far Cry 3.
Exclusive AC3 DLC for PS3.
The most pleasing thing about that sea demo was that it did not feel like a tacked-on gimmick. It looks like Ubisoft has put a lot of care into it.
We now have an AC3 demo – at sea!
Crystal White PS Vita bundle coming with Liberation. Game is out 30 October.
Assassin’s Creed Liberation now announced for PS Vita. It features a female protagonist, a first for the series. “Built from the ground up” to make use of PS Vita’s features.
Call of Duty Black Ops Declassified announced for PS Vita. Coming this holiday.
More apps coming to PS Vita including Crackle and Hulu Plus.
PSOne Classics finally coming to PS Vita.
Sony just bribed the press with one year free PS+
12 free games coming for all PS+ subscribes including inFamous, LittleBigPlanet and Saint’s Row 2. New games will be rotated every month.
Sony announce Cross-Controller DLC for LBP2 which will allow players to use PS Vita as an enhanced controller. Coming later this year.
Drake? Big Daddy? Both are in PlayStation All-Stars.
PlayStation All-Stars now. Cross-Play with PS Vita announced.
That looked great but we have no idea how it plays. We are looking forward to seeing more.
Ellen Page is like a young Psycho Mantis.
We have a real-time demo. The graphics are very detailed. Acting is a big step up from the wooden Heavy Rain.
The main character Jodie Holmes is played by Ellen Page.
The new project is called Beyond. “Death is the biggest mystery of mankind”
New IP from Heavy Rain devs Quantic Dream to be shown. David Cage takes to the stage.
Jack Tretton takes to the stage. This is the “Super Bowl” of the gaming industry.
Sony loves a good montage.
Here we go
The Assassin’s Creed Twitter account just tweeted, “Sony Press Conference is next… why are we tweeting that? http://ow.ly/i/FOTf” – Liberation
The live stream is live. The conference starts in about 25 minutes.
Sony conference is about to start. Watch it here: http://www.ustream.tv/PlayStation
We have Watch Dog screenshots on the blog.
Watch Dogs demo here:
Now we know why Ubisoft did not need to end on AC3!
That is our first big E3 surprise. It is called Watch Dogs. It has touches of Deux Ex, Hitman and GTA, and it is the most exciting game of the show so far.
Big shoot-out now. A little slow-motion. More fantastic animation as someone gets ripped out of a car.
The protagonist has just caused a massive pile-up by jamming a speeding car.
It is cinematic. Very, very high production values.
It is open world. We just seen a guy jam the security of a club. Animation and atmosphere is fantastic.
Ubisoft is showing a new IP, apparently demoing on PS3 .CtOS; control an entire city infrastructure.
Another point: neither EA or Ubisoft has shown a single PS Vita game. Will the Sony presentation be one big Vita montage?
It is surprising that Ubi has not finished on AC3. Surely it can only go downhill from there?
Assassin’s Creed 3 looks like it is taking a big leap up from Revelations.
Assassin’s Creed 3 is being demoed on PS3. It looks good, showing a Red Dead Redemption-style ecosystem and tree climbing. Combat and climbing improved.
Our editor @DolphGB absolutely detests Rayman. True fact.
Rayman Legends looks great for Wii U. We’re quite jealous over here.
Good Far Cry 3 demo. Did it make the other FPSs on show so far look redundant? Quite possibly.
Yes, Far Cry 3 is being demoed using the PS3. The lush jungle has never looked so good.
@Majiesto – Just Dance 4 opened the show. People are going crazy!
The Need for Speed: Most Wanted demo showed off some very nice visuals.
There was some Beyond Good & Evil trivia on the screen. Does this mean BG&E2 will make an appearance?
What is the verdict on the Resident Evil 6 trailer? Watch it here:
South Park: The Stick of Truth trailer, anyone? Watch it here:
Watch the Ubisoft conference with us.
EA Sports came out strong. FIFA looks great (more intelligent and dynamic) and there was the UFC announcement.
That is EA finished. It was a strong showing as usual but not quite as strong as their showing last year. Most Wanted looked great. Medal of Honor was better than expected. Crysis was Crysis.
Crysis 3 is due February 2013. That is turning into a busy month.
Our nano-suited man has just dragged down a helicopter with a bow and arrow (with a tow) #crysis
Crytek CEO Yerli is introducing seven areas called The Seven Wonders in Crysis 3. These range from deep canyons to deadly swamps.
Need for Speed: Most Wanted dated for 30 October.
Need for Speed: Most Wanted will use Autolog. No surprise.
EA has announced a UFC deal. That pretty much confirms that there will be no more EA MMAs.
Warfighter will include 12 Tier One units from 10 countries
Gameplay looked closer to Battlefield than the last Medal of Honor. There was plenty of action and environmental damage.
Medal of Honor gameplay trailer looked brilliant, but it was clearly running on a high-spec PC.
Close Quarters is available right now for PS3 users who subscribe to Battlefield 3 Premium. Sign up today!
Sim City Social is coming to Facebook. Goodbye Farmville?
New FIFA 13 trailer for those who have not seen it yet.
Madden 13 now takes the stage. “No two plays will ever look or feel the same.”
Dead Space 3 will feature live drop-in/drop-out co-op. New character John Carver is being added to the roster as well.
EA and Visceral Games are showing off Dead Space 3 drop-in and drop-out coop multiplayer. Enemies are attacking while a giant spherical drill spins violently around the room.
Dead Space 3 opens of the EA Press Conference! Looking good so far.
The EA press conference begins in 30 minutes! You can watch it live streaming here: http://live-event.ea.com/e3/ What titles are you looking forward to most?

[LiveBlog] Things for Sony to note: Microsoft’s conference started strong, showing off the fantastic looking Halo and Splinter Cell. There was a lull in the middle as Bing and Kinect took over, but it’s hard not to be impressed by the strong media catalog available on Xbox. If Sony really does want the PS3 to be the perfect media hub, it needs to up its game. There was a good brand partnership too for Nike Fitness, and closer integration with tablets and smart phones is a big development. Using your tablet as a trackpad for your Xbox games steals the thunder somewhat from Nintendo. I don’t think it will worry Nintendo too much though. They can be certain that every Wii U owner will have a tablet. Overall the conference was strong in media and services but short on exciting exclusives. There was however a new Gears of War announced. Can Sony offer the complete package?
We did get to see some big multiplatform games. There was a new demo for Tomb Raider. It showed fast over-the-shoulder action, melee attacks, a bow and arrow, and good use of the environment for kills. Nathan Drake would have squirmed if he saw the beating Lara took.
Resident Evil 6 was also on show. It also offered fast over-the-shoulder action but sadly a lot of QTEs. The brutal melee attacks were, well, brutal and the set pieces were also impressive. The demo overall lacked those traditional Resi chills but it was exciting. It’s a big change for the series, and we need to see more.
South Park looked great. Trey Parker and Matt Stone came on to present the game. It looked authentic, which is exactly what fans of the series are looking for. Don’t underestimate this; it’s an RPG from Obsidian, who definitely has the credentials.
The show ended with Black Ops 2, unsurprisingly. Drone control was shown which should give it a new tactical edge, and there was a big flight section, probably inspired by Battlefield. Even though it has a near-future setting, it did look familiar. There was nothing revolutionary shown but it did have enough surprises to keep us interested.
Sony today announced a release date for Sound Shapes for PS3 and PS Vita. It will arrive on the PS Store in the US on 7 August and in Europe the next day, priced £9.99/€12.99/.99 – buy one version, get the other free. Trailer here:
Microsoft’s keynote live stream starts in about 20 minutes. It won’t have any PlayStation, sure, but there could be some big multiplatform games on show. Tomb Raider, Mass Effect 3 and Modern Warfare 3 all featured during their conference last year. Microsoft’s big announcements could also influence Sony’s future decisions/strategies, so it is worth watching. Live stream here: www.xbox.com
We’ve put together a list of five games which we think have something to prove at this show. Those games are The Last of Us, God of War, PlayStation All-Stars, LittleBigPlanet Karting and Medal of Honor. Find out why here.
