LOVEFiLM strikes deal with Fox to stream 24, Buffy and more
LOVEFiLM has signed a multi-year contract with Twentieth Century Fox which will see the service get exclusive on-demand TV and film content, starting next month.
The film deal commences with titles theatrically released in the UK in 2011, which will be made available to subscribers to the LOVEFiLM service from as early as March 2013.
The TV library, available from July 2012, will contain early seasons of Sons of Anarchy, all seasons of 24, Prison Break, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.
Fox is the latest big-name studio to appear on LOVEFiLM, following Warner Bros., Sony Pictures, NBC Universal, Entertainment One, STUDIOCANAL, Disney, ABC, BBC and ITV.
The service faces stiff competition from its main rival, Netflix, which offers a large selection of US TV content. This, therefore, is an important strategic move for the company.
